September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and, this weekend, our Firm is helping our young friend Benjamin Brave and his family raise money to support pediatric cancer research and provide assistance to families who face the daunting financial ramifications of cancer treatment.
8 year old Benjamin was diagnosed with leukemia almost two years ago when his mom took him to his pediatrician for what she thought was just an ear infection. Since that time, he has been bravely battling his disease. But he has also been giving back to the community that has supported him and his family through this tough time.
Last year, Benjamin decided to turn the bitter lemons of childhood cancer into sweet lemonade. He and his family put together a lemonade stand to benefit the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation and raised over $25,000. You can read more about Benjamin’s story, why the Rizzo Foundation is so important to him, and how his idea for the fundraiser came together here.
This year, in addition to the lemonade stand and online pediatric cancer fundraiser, Benjamin is sponsoring a blood drive for the Illinois Blood Bank as well. Our Firm matched the first $10,000 Benjamin raised last year and we are doing the same again this weekend. We hope that you will consider stopping by the lemonade stand to buy a sweet treat, donate blood, and to give Benjamin your support. But if you can’t make it out, feel free to buy a virtual glass of lemonade and make a donation to his effort here. Thank you so much for any support you can give!
