The annual Open Enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) ends TODAY, January 31. This may be your last chance to protect yourself from the possibility of future discrimination by insurers based on preexisting conditions.

There is every reason to believe that the ACA will be repealed or, at a minimum, thoroughly stripped of important protections in the weeks and months to come.  Most worrisome is the concern that the prohibition on discrimination against individuals with preexisting conditions will be eliminated.  This means that insurers will likely be able to deny insurance or charge exorbitantly high rates to individuals who have preexisting medical conditions and who have had a gap or lapse in health insurance coverage.  For more information on the ACA and it’s protections relating to preexisting conditions, click here.

While the future of the ACA is unclear, what we do know is that if you enroll today (your last day to do so under the annual open enrollment period), you may be able to avoid that potentially devastating gap in medical insurance coverage and protect yourself from discrimination by private insurers down the road.

Take advantage of the coverage the ACA affords you today, before it’s too late! To enroll before the deadline, visit this site before midnight today.

And then let’s do everything in our power to make sure our elected officials know how important these protections are to maintaining the health and well-being of our country going forward.
